1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Faster?
I own a 1998 Eclipse GS, and do not want to turbo the engine (Have heard of too many problems with the 420a, and am not really into racing or going to the drag strip). The car has 168K miles on it, 21K on the newer engine, and 1K on the new transmission (it's an Automatic). I would like to know of any good ways to make the car as fast as I can, while keeping it naturally aspirated. So far, I have an AEM Cold Air, a 3" Magnaflow Cat, and an Apexi N1 Muffler. What else could I do? Money's not too much of a problem, and I really want to keep this car. Also, I don't know too much about cars, just know of certain modifications and aftermarket parts. Mainly, I just want something that can keep up with other cars, and that's overall fun to drive. Thanks.
Upgrade the fuel lines, performance injectors, performance fuel rail, performance fuel pump. Ignition performance is a plus along with performance ECMs. Uprgrade your suspension, and lower your curb weight.
Tracing The History Of Mitsubishi In Australia
Since 1980, Mitsubishi's presence in Australia has been managed by Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited, based in Southern Australia's Tonsley Park. It is a fully owned subsidiary of the Mitsubishi Motors Company and has overseen the design, assembly, import and sales of Mitsubishi vehicles in the country. Its presence in the country began in the early 1970's when Mitsubishi designed vehicles were sold under the Chrysler badge. Manufacture at this plant continued for 28 years until Mitsubishi Australia switched from a manufacture/import business plan to import only in 2008.
Today, the company's restructuring has been completed and its headquarters are at the site of the original assembly plant. With over 200 dealer sites across the country and a large line up of both diesel and petrol burning vehicles, Mitsubishi makes up a substantial part of Australia's automotive market.
The current Mitsubishi line up includes family and luxury cars as well as rugged 4WD vehicles. One of the most successful of these is the Lancer, now in its ninth iteration. This sedan has received many upgrades, and boasts a 5 star ANCAP crash test rating. For anyone looking for more excitement, the Lancer Ralliart and Evolution models are proven racing machines. Ralliart, the company's motorsport division, repeatedly puts Mitsubishi vehicles onto the Australian rally and 4WD racing circuits and comes out with victory. Currently, the number one driver in the Australian Rally Championship is sponsored by Ralliart. In addition to this, both the Lancer Evolution and the Pajero are very popular among both professional and amateur racing teams in rally and 4WD racing events.
