Does a cone air filter affect a diesel 4x4?

Im looking to buy a second hand Mitsubishi Pajero 1991, diesel, but it has a cone air filter?? I thought it wasnt good for diesels to ahve cone filters? or am I wrong?

I have been a diesel mechanic for 23 years and I have never heard that before.
